Inspiration: Most of my creations are inspired by Mother Nature and Her creations. This piece, “Inception” is a depiction of that critical and delicate stage of a newly planted seed rising and coming to life. Birth.

The process: I heat the raw aluminum material to its very narrow melting point, which creates a short window to manipulate and design. What happens thereafter is dependent upon my success in managing that pivotal stage. In this case, the upper right corner of the piece was heightened and rippled creating the perfect “landscape for the planting” of the seed (copper). The copper accent is riveted with no glues or adhesives. The lasting patina naturally develops when heating the element (oxidation). This is the final stage where I create movement and depth by sanding the oxidation in key areas.
