I’ve wet felted this unique, romantic hat out of soft, Merino wool fiber. The hat is both fantastical and practical: the wearer is transformed into an Ice Queen and she is also kept warm. The color ranges from pale blue to dark turquoise. There is silver lace nunofelted into the crest of the hat. Additional texture comes from sculptural shaping and curly Leicester wool locks. To finish off the hat, I’ve hand-sewn millinery wire to the brim and covered this with hand-dyed silk fabric. Matching silk fabric lines the inside of the hat. A turquoise-colored millinery grosgrain ribbon is hand stitched around the inside. It is truly a work of wearable art and is included in the upcoming Wearable Expressions International Juried Exhibition of Wearable Art (2017).
