I crafted Bernice by hand using a technique called needle felting. The process involves tangling the fibers of wool with a barbed needle in order to create wool sculpture. I hand dyed the wool and did not use an armature of any kind.
I’ve always been inspired by animals and as a child spent most of my free time sculpting little animals out of clay. I re-discovered this love of sculpture several years ago when I came across the art of needle felting. I’ve been creating my collection of animals ever since.
