A portrait hat of my friends dog.

My friend Marc, wanted a Bulldog hat to wear to the Seattle Royal Frenchel festival. But instead of just making a bull dog hat I had this idea of painting on crochet to try and make the hat look like his actual dog. I first surfed the internet for painting on crochet. I discovered that using textile medium in acrylic paints would adhere to natural fibers. So I picked up some cotton yarn and made a text swatch of the paint on the crochet piece. I washed it and was permanent. I used cotton yarn for the hat, crocheted embroidery floss for the eyes, and regular sewing thread to mold and shape facial features. The hat took me a week to create.
This project lead me to make 2 other different portrait dog hats.
I am self taught in crochet and currently 3 years now full time at my craft. I crochet almost everyday.
